A
garbage discharge chute opening has a diameter of 24” - which is
equivalent to 452.3 square inches.
The Bennett has been designed
to be a shut-off gate; it is a self-closing door controlling the garbage
discharge chute outlet.
This
results in an air-water seal on the closing plate, ensuring that
no smoke and fumes can be sucked up into the chute by the stack
effect or back draft of tall buildings.

The
Bennett contains the required code control, 3.5.3.3. (2)
Automatic, self-latching closure held open by a fusible link.
